5/17/2012 EHS to Be Featured at San Antonio Conference
  The National Math and Science Initiative chose El Dorado High School to feature in a video that will be presented in June during the national conference of the National Society of Engineering Educators. The conference will be held in San Antonio, according to Rena Pederson, director of communication for NMSI.

 "Come on, babe why don’t we paint the town!” This summer the South Arkansas Arts Center paints the town red with the sizzling hot musical vaudeville Chicago, July 12-22. The groundbreaking musical is sponsored by Nexans AmerCable.

Over the years, the annual event has become the region’s largest Motorcycle themed event filled with hundreds of bikes, the best in live music and the region’s best crawfish.

  In the digital age of cell phone apps, social media, texting and video sharing, attention spans are dwindling, making a succinct message of the utmost importance. That was the premise for ‘Gone in 60 Seconds’ Thursday night, an elevator pitch competition where 17 presenters distilled their business plans into 60-second spiels they hoped would garner $1,000 for their fledgling enterprises.

4/4/2012 OUACHITA RIVER PUBLIC MEETING: Proposed Lock & Dam Operations Reductions
 The Corps of Engineers will hold a public meeting in El Dorado at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10, at the Municipal Auditorium to hear from constituents about the Vicksburg District's plans to reduce the operations of all four locks from full service (24/7/365) to two shifts daily in July 2012, and in 2013 could further reduce the services at the two Arkansas locks to weekend and holiday operations only.

  On Wednesday, March 28, 180 students who have met the criteria for the Arkansas Scholars program at the El Dorado High School were honored as Arkansas Scholars at an event sponsored by the El Dorado Chamber of Commerce, El Dorado High School, El Dorado Education Foundation and Union County Community Foundation. The number of students qualified for Arkansas Scholars program has increased from 2011 to 2012.
