Economic Outlook Luncheon

Posted on June 9, 2012

On June 13, the El Dorado Chamber of Commerce is holding its first ever Economic Outlook Luncheon, sponsored by First Financial Bank, during which representatives from each community in Union County will have the opportunity to give a status update.

“Economies are regional; they don?t stop at a line on a map,? said Henry Florsheim, president and CEO of the Chamber. “Companies hire the best person for the job, not a person who lives in a specific area. We can be stronger if we work together, and that is why the Chamber is holding what we hope will become a quarterly event. The intent is simple ? to get people from around the county in the same room talking about issues that affect them. Magical things happen when people get together.?

The luncheon is from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and will be held at the El Dorado Conference Center. The cost is $15 at the door, and the public is invited to attend. For companies that wish to reserve a table for their guests, the cost is $140 for a table of 8. RSVPs are required to the Chamber at (870) 863-6113 or chamber@goeldorado.com by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, June 11.

Representatives from Calion, El Dorado, Felsenthal, Huttig, Junction City, Norphlet, Parkers Chapel, Smackover, Strong, and Union Countyhave been invited to present at the luncheon. Guests will also hear from groups such as the El DoradoA&P Commission, El Dorado Economic Development Board, El Dorado Festivals & Events, Leadership Union County, Main Street El Dorado, South Arkansas Community College and the Union County Industrial Board.

First Financial Bank, headquartered in El Dorado, Ark., is sponsoring this inaugural event. “First Financial Bank is pleased to sponsor this special Chamber event,? said Melissa Jerry, Chief Financial Officer of First Financial Bank. “Our area, like many others, has been impacted by the economic downturn, but we are fortunate to have many citizens and public officials that are committed to improving our community?s quality of life. First Financial is proud to be a part of this effort in bringing community leaders and other interested individuals together to discuss Union County?s economic future.?
