Janet Carson featured speaker at El Dorado’s Dirt Friends Festival

Janet Carson will be one of the featured speakers for Union County Master Gardeners’ Dirt Friends Festival.

Union County Master Gardeners 2018 Dirt Friends Festival will be Saturday, March 10.

Featured speakers are Janet Carson and Chris Olsen.

Carson is a University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension horticulture specialist and the coordinator of the Arkansas Master Gardener program. She writes a weekly gardening column that runs in newspapers and magazines.

Carson is well known and loved by gardeners all across Arkansas for her knowledge and her encouragement to gardeners of all skill levels.

Carson is retiring at the end of 2018.

Olsen is an award winning landscape architect and owner of Plantopia in North Little Rock and Botanica Gardens in Little Rock. Olsen is known for his risk taking designs that incorporate the unusual and the unexpected. Chris is the author of “Five Seasons, Unique and Stylish Ideas for Your Home and Garden” and has been featured in numerous national publications, such as Better Homes and Gardens, Southern Living and Fine Gardening.

Olsen is a popular speaker that focuses on creating design pizzazz and expressing personality.

The event will be held at the College Avenue Church of Christ, 1817 North College, El Dorado. Dirt Friends Festival registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with the program starting at 9 a.m. There is a $10 admission fee.

The festival includes vendors, refreshments and door prizes and Union County Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer gardening questions.

Union County Master Gardeners are trained volunteers that work with the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension to offer research-based information through demonstration and educational programs.
