The Arkansas Department of Transportation opened bids on construction projects this week.
Jet Asphalt & Rock Co. of El Dorado was the only bidder this week for a project to resurface Main Street and about half of North Vine through Magnolia.
The Arkansas Department of Transportation will evaluate the bid on the Magnolia project and others before decided whether to award the work.
Jet Asphalt bid $2,081,349.30 for the Magnolia work. It is federal aid project (No. 070444) along 3.25 miles of selected sections of U.S. 82B and U.S. 371. It includes Main Street from the 79-82 bypass to the western Magnolia city limits, and North Vine Street from West Main to Greene Street.
The job will include excavation, ACHM surface course, cold milling ACHM patching of the existing roadway, culvert rehabilitation, minor drainage and pavement marking.
Among the logistical considerations will be 13,617 gallons of tack coat, 8,246 tons of MA in ACHM surface, 461 tons of PG70-22 ACHM surface, 79,159 square yards of cold milling asphalt pavement, 13,131 feet of white pavement marking, 40,128 feet of yellow pavement marking, and 2,680 raised pavement markers.
Jet Asphalt will have 40 working days to complete the job if it is awarded the bid.
The successful bidder will have 40 working days to complete the project.
A street resurfacing project in Taylor, and work in Nevada County were also bid. The bids were also taken under advisement pending awards.
City of Taylor
C&F Construction of Smackover was the only bidder for a state aid city job to overlay approximately 1.72 miles of various city streets in Taylor. The bid was for $269,730.
Nevada County
C&F Construction was the lowest of three bidders for the resurfacing of one mile of Nevada Road 17 in Rosston. The C&F bid was $299,894.
In another Nevada County project, Cranford Construction Co. of North Little Rock bid $721,920.48 on a federal aid job to overlay 1.86 miles of Highways 24, 67 and 371 in the City of Prescott. Cranford was the only bidder.
