SAAC Hosts Benefit Concert

Posted on September 10, 2012

Musicians tend to be a tight knit brotherhood of artists, when one is in need, many come forward to offer their gifts. In the true spirit of fellowship, Tony Forbess has asked fellow musicians Kent Shreve, Paul Hardwick, and vocalists Mary Pat Anthony and Ronnie Clay to give an encore performance of "Romance in Concert? as a benefit for the Chris McKnight family. The benefit concert will be hosted in the Callaway Theatre of the South Arkansas Arts Center on Thursday, September 13, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 and are available at SAAC. All proceeds go to Chris McKnight and family.

McKnight?s own band, The Corney Bottom Boys, and daughter, Lori, will open the concert with a selection of Bluegrass/Country numbers. Ross Cates, Carroll Cook, Kenneth Jackson, Rodney Hopson, Ken Lewis, Bruce Murray and Terry Sneed will be giving of their talents on the evening.

McKnight has been active in our community for years, through his music and sound expertise, from running sound for El Dorado?s own "Showdown at Sunset? to performing at area churches and functions with his family and band.

"When a person gives so much of themselves to a community, I just feel it is the right thing to do, to show them we care and give a helping hand,? said Forbess.

Tickets are available at the SAAC boxoffice at (870) 862-5474. " "PJ's Coffee Announces Grand Opening of its First Arkansas Location – Wednesday, September 12, 2012"
